The BLVD is looking for a dynamic leader to fill its Minister/Pastor of Discipleship role. This person will be responsible for the strategic planning, programmatic development, and administrative oversight of The BLVD’s key discipleship initiatives which includes the process of welcoming visitors, assimilating new members, and developing life groups and activities that help congregants grow and mature in the faith.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Create and manage the assimilation process for welcoming visitors, orienting new members, and connecting congregants to life groups.
2. Oversee The BLVD’s life group ministry and identify and recommend curriculum that will help lead the congregation in becoming spiritually mature and will ultimately strengthen all areas of their lives.
3. Conduct assessments of current curriculum to ensure it continues to remain relevant to the times and needs of the congregation.
4. Periodically monitor and survey the congregation to determine what classes should be offered or are needed.
5. Oversee the Bridge Team for New Members Ministry and its sub-teams to ensure that the new member process is seamless.
6. Ensure New Member curriculum is up to date, monitor processes and procedures to ensure new members are properly oriented to the Church through classes, assimilation into ministry opportunities, etc.
7. Report all pertinent data for record keeping, process improvement, and future planning.8. Identify, train, and equip life group leaders to disciple others and to develop gifts of leadership.MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Master of Divinity Degree preferred from an accredited Theological Seminary.
Three years of experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is required in which he/she held responsibility around discipleship and lay leadership development..
Participation as a leader and a contributor for a large, growing, multi-level staff.
Prior ordination and necessary credentials for standing in the Christian Church (DOC) within 2 years of assignment is required.

Excellent project management skills/organization development and planning skills.

The BLVD is looking for a dynamic, socially conscious, and faith-filled leader to fill its Missions and Justice Minister/Pastor role.
This person will be responsible for the strategic planning, programmatic development, and administrative oversight to all ministries that fall under The Blvd outreach umbrella. He or she will serve as the church’s representative to the marginalized in our community, while advocating for social justice, inside and outside of the church.
The BLVD Outreach Ministries include but not limited to:
● BLVD Community Outreach
● Room in the Inn
● Manna Outreach Ministry
● Annual Serve Tour
● Emergency Assistance
● Global Missions Ministry
● Emergency Assistance
Program DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Facilitate opportunities for congregants to serve by spearheading volunteer services locally and in the greater community. This is achieved by assessing the needs of the community, creating strategic partnerships with local and national organizations and other faith communities; and mobilizing available resources along with volunteers to help meet the needs of those who find themselves on the margins of life.
2. Identify and develop a core team of leaders who will be involved in developing the church’s social justice advocacy initiatives and building collaborative relationships with other ministries/programs to meet the needs of the community.
3. Represent the church’s mission and outreach efforts in the community which may require the attendance at Memphis City Council, Shelby County Commission, and Shelby County School Board meetings and interacting with legislative leaders and representatives.
4. Recruit, train, and develop lay leaders and other volunteers in the facilitation of evangelistic outreaches through training and service opportunities.
5. Coordinate local efforts to reach out with the gospel, work with the missions to coordinate The BLVD’s global outreach efforts via the Global Missions Ministry.
6. Capture and report all pertinent data for record-keeping, process improvement, and future planning.
7. Assess and prioritize existing and new outreach mission opportunities.8. Make decisions related to offering charity to those seeking assistance.9. Educate, inform, and offer theological/faith perspective to the congregation about relevant community issues including systemic and systematic injustices that impacts our lives.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Master of Divinity Degree preferred from an accredited Theological Seminary.
- Minimum of 4 years of previous experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is required in which he/she held responsibility for delivery of mission for staff and lay leadership development.
- Exposure to and participation in missions and ministry beyond the local church.
- Participation as a leader and a contributor for a large, growing, multi-level staff.
- Prior ordination and necessary credentials for standing in the Christian Church (DOC) within 2 years of assignment is required.
